@K_DC3 years agoSay someone fractured their foot and can't come to work (constructions company). That person technically wouldn't be able to work for any constructions company. Simmon's "mental" affliction is oddly scoped to not be able to play for one "specific" team 🤣. @NeilTruick3 years agoLet's turn back the clock to the interviews right after the Sixers got eliminated by the Hawks. Doc answered his question the way he answered it, Joel answered his question the way he answered it. Up to this point, Ben is still a member in good standing of the Philadelphia '76ers. The team never said anything about Ben not coming back, whether it was a player, a coach, or any front office personnel. It was Ben who said he wanted out. It was Ben who said he never wanted to wear a Sixers uniform again. Ben blamed the team, Ben blamed the fans. Right or wrong, Ben unilaterally decided he wanted to be traded immediately. The Sixers still have FOUR YEARS on the contract Ben signed. What team is going to want to pick up Ben Simmons and the remainder of that contract at face value given what they just saw? From a business perspective, the Sixers did exactly what they were supposed to do--protect their financial investment. I get that the media doesn't want to contribute to this drama going on for any longer, but they are not doing anybody any good by trying to browbeat the Sixers front office into accepting a bad deal just to make Ben happy and put the team even further behind than they are now. They paid for Ben's services, but Ben is not providing those services. The reasoning and supposed justification is irrelevant. If Ben wants to get paid, Ben needs to do the work. If Ben is using a psychological justification why he can't do the work, then what's more important: him getting healthy or him getting paid? Ben doesn't "trust" the team...so much so, he not only refuses to use their medical staff, he refuses to divulge which medical professional is supposedly helping him through this. This could have been a John Wall situation. This could have even been a James Harden situation. Because Ben is handling this situation in the worst way anyone could handle this situation, this is what we have. Ask anyone in Philadelphia...ask anyone with more than a passing knowledge of this situation. Ben has yet to earn the sympathy he so desperately wants. ...13

@tonytsai953 years agoTim's missing the point. The Sixers are willing to move Simmons for the right deal (as is their right), but in the absence of that deal, they expect him to play. It's shame he doesn't want to play for them, but they are willing to trade him. The problem is -- he's damaged goods right now and needs to rehabilitate his image. But he can't recover any trade value by sitting out, because the last thing anyone saw of him was choking in the Atlanta series. He needs to play to recuperate his trade value, and then he will get his wish. But he has to play. ...14

@keshonrobertson14363 years agoEveryone says Pilly should trade him, what are they going to get in return nothing. @davidarrington41443 years agoHonest question here… I know Rich Paul doesn’t actually care about Ben or any of his players and that he just searches for the largest contract being offered without any consideration of the situation the player is joining or any consideration for the players legacy in the bigger picture. Rich clearly puts himself first, players are just too stupid to pick up on this cause money money. But I’m curious, does Ben realize how bad this looks? @
@oldschoolde51833 years agoOk here’s the thing. I am in No WAY, ShAPE, or FORM belittling anyone with mental health issue. I have family that are struggling with issues of their own. The issue with Simmons has a few big holes that no one in the media has said anything about. Simmons reportedly said that he “wasn’t mentally ready” to play. He never said that he was dealing with any sort of mental health issue. Not being mentally ready to go to work and having issues that prevent you from going to work are to entirely different things. Mental Health issues were brought up immediately by media outlets. Simmons never said anything other than he wasn’t “mentally ready”…not until after media outlets brought up mental health. In my opinion the GM and Ownership has a right to know what issues he is having. Stress, Depression, Anxiety….what is the issue. It’s not to much to ask. He is not willing to communicate just what he is dealing with. If he really wants support, don’t you thing he would at the very least say what he’s going through or is he not “Mentally Ready” to let anyone know? ...1
