@NancyLynn5 years ago Hey Noreen (I hope I spelled it correctly). Just happened upon this video and it was the thumbnail that caught my attention. I am an elderly crafter who is challenged with physical issues. My craft room has gotten out of control to the point where it is taking away from my creativity, and that makes me so sad because for me, I am basically homebound and crafting is my only therapeutic relief. In fact, I have already been 'feeling' the effects of not crafting. Because of my physical issues, I do find that it doesn't take much for my room to get out of control; when I do craft, I do it in stages as I can't sit/stand for too long or fatigue hits me like a 'ton of bricks'. I've finally realized that I need to do something about this as I'm tired of wasting my valuable energy just to find something and/or things falling over every time I grab something. The old saying 'take it one day at a time' is so true for anything difficult that needs to be tackled and so I will remind myself of that when I begin my 'organizational journey'. Let's face it, if I look at the enormous organizational job ahead of me, I know it will overwhelm me and I won't start. By taking baby steps I will be more able to tackle it one category at a time and be more successful at getting organized. Thank you for all your advice. I would like to see more information on handling the scrap papers in the binder. If anyone else is interested, please 'thumbs up' this comment so that Noreen knows that there is interest in this topic. This blessed Nana of 8 would so appreciate it. Happy crafting everyone! PS: New subbie now, Noreen ... 195

@patriciaribaric34095 years ago I had 3 young grandsons come live with me one evening almost 5 years ago. Everything of mine had to be shoved aside while we created space and beds in one evening. I now have many pairs of school uniform pants to hem. I purchased a couple of sewing machines and sewing supplies. I looked around, and the clutter is so bad I had nowhere to sew. I looked out the window at the camping trailer that was sitting idle, and voila I have a sewing room. It's the one space that is clutter free. ... 41

@lzrd84603 months ago This is such a great ‘common sense’ video. I’m getting ready to move and am doing just that - donating supplies I have far too many of. My problem is that I like to do a variety of crafts rather than just one so, needless to say, I have lots of stuff to keep organized. I used to work mainly with paper crafts but don’t so much anymore and as I was getting stuff together, realized how much paper I have that I will never use up! Just donated lots to a local school. And it felt great knowing the kids would have fun using it and that I won’t have to haul stuff I will never use to my new house! Win-win. 👏👏👏👏 ... 1

@TheLovelyMissBeans3 years ago You have come SOOO FAR in just 2 years! I love seeing how your space has transformed little by little.
Y'all, Pinterest is NOT real life. No one is that perfect. We as women hold ourselves to impossible standards and it gets in the way of just being happy. Let Pinterest be a tool to inspire you and maybe give you some insight on how to do things, but don't fall into it's trap! ...

@chrisholley35305 years ago Love your craft room! You are so practical. We all love the big lavish rooms on Pinterest but most of us have a smaller space and less money to spend on storage. Thanks for sharing. 7

@shantilley65405 years ago I really enjoyed your video so much. Thank you for sharing. I recently emptied my messy craft room and removed everything out to my large living room which allowed me the space to separate everything and I did exactly what you said ... put like things together. Most of my storage containers are from the dollar tree, also. For larger bins, I went to WalMart and was able to find many different sizes for my larger items at a reasonable price. It does take time and the mess seems to get worse before it gets better, but it is so worth taking the time! With all of this organization there is no reason why my room should ever get messy again because everything has a place and I put everything back in its proper place when I'm done with it. Now my craft room is a calming, fun environment instead of a stressful one. :) ... 10

@kensorensen53214 years ago Thank you for curating the pictures of organized craft rooms. It helps to decide what to do in my craft room. I do see that at least one of the rooms is a Stampin Up demonstrator. It is her full time e job to sell craft supplies. Several of the craft room tours on YouTube are full time crafters who make their money showing craft supplies. It could be the one who rented the space was one of these crafters. We should keep this in mind when viewing the "Dream" craft room. ...

@emmkaa20994 years ago Two things; the "likes with likes" and then grouping them together to see how many/much I need to find a home for is exactly what I needed to hear. ...problem solved! Being one of your baby subbies 🙋‍♀️ I'm wondering how I've made it this far without you! 🤗
Wanted to thank you, too, for explaining the consistent requests to like, comment, and subscribe all my instructors make. All I could surmise was that doing those things was a good thing for y'all but I didn't know why, and it honestly never occurred to me that it'd benefit moi! 😲😃😁👍 Very cool! Didn't know YouTube cared.😉 ...explains a lot 'tho.

@pamelaf.tucker29355 years ago Great video! Very helpful! I know I need to gift some items. my problem is I have so different crafts that I love. For a few months I will be focused on beading/jewelry, then I will switch to knitting, then I will switch to sewing & sometimes I even switch to canvas & upholstery for boats. Almost 2 years ago I started baking & decorating cookies. Then a few months ago drum roll....wait for it....BAM. I bought my first cutting machine. Any way I really appreciate your great video & all the great comments from your viewers. I would definitely be interested in seeing the video about organizing the 12x12 scraps. Kind Regards, Pamela ... 13

@florissafenix69385 years ago Thank you for making the very important point that there are crafting items we use and others we dream of using some day. At a certain point the cute items that never get used need to go. @anniegabriel42034 years ago Noreen, I really feel for you. Maybe you could choose the easiest section, set a timer for TEN MINUTES ONLY, and just clear some of that space. Stick to the time, and give yourself a reward afterwards. Do this a couple of times a day, no more, or it becomes overwhelming. Take a photo before you begin, too. You may find when some usable space appears, you feel you can manage more. But I strongly urge you, keep it to a minimum at first, and always reward yourself for having taken the first steps up that mountain! A thousand mile journey begins with the first step. And as in doing any major art or craft work, don’t think about the end result, only enjoy the bit you are doing at that moment. You can begin to look at the view from the summit when you get near the end. Spoken from experience. Good luck!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 ... 1

@RingoWild5 years ago I think as "makers," we tend to collect those things that spark our imagination. And, in fact, we probably appear to be hoarders by those who don't find the same joy in creating. I love all my stuff--thousands of bits and bobs that someone else might call junk. As with many makers, I find happiness in exploring many kinds of crafts, and therein lies the challenge of organization.
But the truth is, if you can't find it, it's the same as not having it. For the past year I've worked to organize much in way you suggest--like with like. I continue to go vertical, though, as my floor space is limited. Thank you for your suggestions. There are dozens of sub-categories that could be researched for organizational tips such as vintage paper and ephemera, polymer clay, mixed media, etc.
One of my issues is that I work with reclaimed / recycled materials, making it hard to categorize many things. I have a box labeled "parts," because I'm not even sure what they are other than being interesting in themselves.

My whole HOUSE is my storage room except for my two bathrooms, hehehe, so I'm desperate to find a way to sort through and de-clutter. LOVE your room - my favourite colours are aquas and turquoises so am now going to see what I can find. Love your ideas and am keen to start getting organised. Thank yo so much. ... 4

@luzgemz36605 years ago Hi, I really like your very practical advice on de-cluttering... Most of the time when I am looking for organizing craft rooms tutorials, I always end up with videos of craft rooms that looks like a store to me, although they're very organized and looks luxurious craft room but its so unrealistic to me. Like you, I believe too that we don't need to buy a lot of extra luxurious storage systems to put in lots of unneeded craft supplies. We only keep what we will be using always. So thank you so much for this video that shows us just that. Looking forward for more videos of practical advice on de-cluttering stuffs....from your new subscriber ... 4

@vickimontemayor32622 years ago New subject. I'm 74 with health issues also. Right now my craft room has bins in middle of floor as I try to reorganize but like you I poop out frequently and everything is delayed. My 4 grandkids try to help as does my daughter in law but all the kids are in sports and I try to pick up some slack helping get the kids to their practices and out of town games. I've decided not to let the clutter bug me too much and use time when I do have energy to do a little when not spending time with the kids. Just take each day as it comes and keep on trucking. Best of luck.🤗💜👍 ...
