We managed to keep the cost down to $3,200 USD for 6 weeks in Costa Rica and here’s how 👇🏼 -Hostels: there are so many cheap hostels all around this country. Some are quiet and laid back, while others have a great community and party scene. -Free (cheap) excursions: the country is full of beautiful hiking trails, some are free and if they’re not they’re usually pretty cheap entrance tickets into a National park. -Sodas: no not the kinda you drink. A soda is a typical mom & pop restaurant in Costa Rica. The typical dish consists of rice, beans, vegetables, meat, and a salad. It’s very basic but so delicious. -Alcohol: I (Maddie) love me a fancy cocktail, but Costa Rica is not the place for that if you’re trying to stay on a budget. So we stuck with Imperial the traditional Costa Rican beer. 🍻 -Public transportation: I’ll be honest we have a love-hate relationship with this one… You can travel from one end of the country to the other for only $20 USD. But it will take you all day, and multiple bus transfers. They’re very very hot, have no bathrooms and they make excessively frequent stops. But it can save you hundreds… so ya we love/hate it 😂
