He used literature for the purpose of arousing public awareness about national and social issues and often wrote about topics related to #corruption, #child #widowhood, #prostitution, #feudal #system, #poverty, #colonialism and on the Indian freedom movement. He started writing before India's freedom. Mostly between 1920-1936. During that time, there was no Pakistan, it was one country - India. Post partition, his stories are still part of school books in Pakistan.
