As #MardiGras celebrates diversity, inclusion, equity and social justice for the LGBTQI community, at Artfilms we would like to commemorate some of those artists who were rejected and forced to work in isolation because of their non-mainstream sexual orientation or gender identity. The video "Haunting Douglas" tells the story of New Zealand born contemporary dance choreographer Douglas Wright. A tortured genius, Wright’s work explores difficult themes including AIDS, isolation, homosexuality, death and redemption. Wright has danced and choreographed around the world. He has collaborated with some of the most important artists in contemporary dance including New York's Paul Taylor and Lloyd Newson of London's DV8 Dance company.
