The latest @GiroSportDesign helmet features ALL of the bells and whistles, claiming the top spot in their mountain bike lineup. Join @TrailPeek's Zach Petersen for a look at what makes it stand out and some initial impressions. Although it's on the pricey side, he's been thoroughly impressed by the Manifest Spherical so far. The Manifest Spherical represents countless hours of design and thorough vetting in the Dome – Giro and Bell's widely regarded test lab. It has a two-piece EPS liner with progressive layering to better manage high- and low-speed impacts. The two layers can rotate around one another like a ball and socket, something not often seen before. It also vents incredibly well, providing 7% better cooling than their proven Montaro MIPS lid. "Spherical Technology’s unique ball-and-socket design is powered by MIPS to help redirect impact forces, features best-in-class ventilation, deep coverage, and luxurious comfort." - Giro Manifest Spherical Highlights - In-Mold Spherical Technology - MIPS Equipped - Progressive Layering - Deeper Mountain Style Protection - Maximum Ventilation via 19 Vents and Deep Internal Channeling - AURA Reinforcing Arch - Full Lower Hardbody Coverage - 15-Degree Adjustable Moto-Style Screw-In Visor - Roc Loc Trail Air Fit System - Goggle Gripper on Back of Helmet - Integrated Eyewear Grippers - Fidlock Magnetic Buckle - XT2 Anti-Microbial Padding - Reflective Decals on Rear of Helmet - Lightweight Webbing - Available in Three Sizes: S, M, L - Weight: 346g (Size Medium) - MSRP: $260 USD // €270 Interested in more details? @forest_biker6844 years ago So now it looks like the sides dont have a rigid skid plate, just a layer of foam? I would want better side protection. The price is too ridiculous for me to consider. 1

@Mediarahan0034 years ago That is unbelievably expensive. I paid that for my freaking icon motorcycle helmet. 11

@DerekVerLee4 years ago The only problem with paying that much for a helmet is that they are consumables. 14

@swarooptewari4014 years ago Imagine mounting a go pro on the helmet. It would wobble like crazy. No stabilization would help that.

@cjhike24564 years ago Wonder when dust gets in that slip plane if it will still slip. 1

@leighroughriders4 years ago $300+ and not even a bug fly mesh on the front vents. Even $10 helmets have a bug fly mesh. 1

@mrsmartypants_14 years ago The ball and socket movement isnt very wild in todays world. It seems to me Trek eclipsed it with WaveCel almost 2 years ago:

class="buttons">>Itd be interesting to compare the 2 technologies in valid peer reviewed engineering tests versus reviews based on nothing other than some random person wearing a helmet. Helmets only matter during the milliseconds of bad head crash impacts with real human heads in those impacts.
