@MoMo-pd5hu9 months ago Thank you Dima!!! Who are the winners of the summer campaign? Secondly, there cannot be two winners, categorical. Thirdly, this military campaign will continue in the first calendar month of autumn, until the leaves start to fall from the trees (then there will be a long process of changing military camouflages). But, most importantly, first of all, we already have a winner of this military campaign and that is called the Russian army!! Let's not forget, the Ukrainians ended up sending their last strategic military reserves to the front and at the same time they DID NOT reach the first Russian defensive line in Zaporozhye!!! Personally, I think it is more than a visible and publicized victory for the Russians. It's like a fine meal that reveals its ingredients one by one, and at the end you have that maximum pleasure of the sublime taste!!! The picture is more than clear... In three months of Ukrainian "counter-success", the Russian army decimated the second NAFO army on Ukrainian territory !!! It is amazing to see how all the weapons, new and old, sent by NAFO are falling like poppets. Daily, dozens of videos with these amazing blows given by the Russians against everything. A small example: today the Russians destroyed a Zuzana 2 howitzer, two KRAB, 1 Palladin, 1 Caesar, 3 M777, 4 SCALP EG missiles and many other armored vehicles and tanks... No one says that the Russians have no losses, but let's be serious... the Ukrainians are already buried but they still don't realize this fact!!! ... 47

@flightgamer78499 months ago Keep in mind that the attrition part of Russia's plan will only reach full effect once Ukraine has penetrated deep into the Russian defenses so that they can be attacked from 3 sides instead of one. It is only good for Ukraine if they can quickly push all the way thru with enough firepower to protect their flanks. Unfortunately not the case here. ... 17

@fabiofalcone95949 months ago zelenski showing up at the frontline is the best sign for Russian Army : when he shows up, the territory is lost by ukronazis. The use of troops planned for further offensive purposes is also a very good sign. The question is not how much territory they will eventually manage to capture, but how many soldiers they will have left when they reach their manpower limit, and with what army they will try to prevent Russia from taking over all of Ukraine. ... 32

@tsclly23779 months ago M777 has big problems.. the carriage only gives a 17 degrees rotation of the gun and the carriage will burn like hell.. and why, as it is an incomplete 'knock off' of the Rheinmetall 8.8 cm Flak 41 (V4) carriage that rotated the full 360 degrees.. the standard V leg double bogie actually can be moved faster and does not tow from the barrel for such a heavy caliber with such a long barrel. This design should have been in 120-130mm, with an auto-loader with a steel carriage, 360 degree rotation, 89 degree elevation and using tank type smooth bore type (compatible) ammunition.. fast hook-up to a tracked (or wheeled) engineering vehicle (for site leveling, preparation and removal).. The Ukrainians suck as site preparation and seem not to shoot and scoot, getting caught with way to much exposed ammunition and getting caught loading the guns (to long on site)...
Oh well.. and this is an easy fix, but needs a fix in attitude. If it looks like an AA gun, it also should be. Area denial works...

@Synonomous9 months ago Good update with the exception of your positing that AD can be driven across the border, used, and then driven back.
This CAN be done but, they would need to know A: When an attack is coming well enough in advance to get the equipment there. B: Set it up, use it, tear it down. C: Drive it back across the border. Nope. This is logistically not viable or even possible. Otherwise good update as usual. Slava Russia! ...

@waynegabler65709 months ago A glide bomb that can travel 60km to target might not be the farthest those bombs can travel. Weight (250, 500, 750 kg), released from an altitude of 1,000-30,000 ft, at speeds ranging from 500-2,000 mph, would give you a wide range of distances.
'Interactive Physics' (aka Working Model 2D) is a shareware program that lets you draw complex images, it does not let you save ones with more than 4 moving parts. That should be all a person needs to get the distances. Ball weighing so much, traveling at a certain speed/direction above a line that is anchored as 0 ft elevation.

@cartrips6409 months ago Dima, your work is really valuable, as usual, but please put more effort on analysis of meaning and strategic value of reported events. Your today's presentation lacks of analysis what exactly and why has been struck with russian rockets. The movie you showed us today was from Dnepropetrovsk where four (!) rockets hit one plant/factory. It is quite clear that four strikes mean that the target was very important - and it was! Russia targeted Yuzhmash plant that from Soviet days designs and builds rockets and rocket engines!!! It is not hard to understand why it was damaged now (although tbh it is hard to understand why it has not been destroyed earlier)... ... 20

@stlouisix19 months ago Russia repels Ukrainian terror attempt. Russian Defense Ministry says Kiev attempted to hit Belgorod, pre-war Russia (see map) with terror drone but air defenses destroyed the unmanned aerial vehicle. - Intel Report
It is becoming increasingly difficult for Ukrainian troops to intercept and shoot down Russian missiles, Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yury Ignat told Radio Liberty on Tuesday. Projectiles launched by Moscow’s forces are capable of changing course in a matter of seconds, thereby becoming “invisible” to Ukraine’s air defenses, he admitted.
Chilling footage (see above) of Russian missile strikes on machine-building plant in Dnepropetrovsk, East Ukraine apparently on August 14-15 night. Missile after missile pounds the plant as spectators are left shocked, looking at huge fiery clouds that rise from destruction of Ukrainian factory. - Intel Report

@stephenhall35159 months ago Dima is correct about Zelenskyy's visits. He does not state that the panic can be transposed to losses of men and machines but analysis of military history can be informative in this regard.
If Z fails to convince field commanders and NCOs that such losses are acceptable [dead means dead and being maimed in what is a failed state would mean slow cracking up and many suicides from sheer despair then there must be immediate moves to talks.
As Z has said that he will not talk he has no choice but to stand down and allow wiser and bloodied heads to use their brainpower and experience for post-conflict revision of Ukraine in the entire Eurasian and Black Sea region.
This really is the end of the show and not, as Churchill said in a different context, the beginning of the end. The end of the beginning was around the time of the fall of the 'twin cities' and the attritional slugging over the symbolic Bakhmut should have resulted in either a counter offensive or requesting talks.
I think Zelenskyy's regime could end by the coming weekend.

So for a summary today we can say it is not going well for the allies. 'going well' would be no setbacks at all and at least some progress.
