Scientists simulated a black hole in a lab, and then it mysteriously started glowing. Specifically, they mimicked the black hole’s event horizon to study Hawking radiation in detail. The experiment found that quantum entanglement is a must for Hawking radiation. The researchers noticed that Hawking radiation is directly connected to the entanglement of particles on either side of the event horizon. Since it’s impossible to detect Hawking radiation from astrophysical black holes with current technology, quantum experiments like these can shed light on the exotic phenomenon.
