Initially manufactured in 1963, this kit was part of the fifth edition 1968 reprinting. This Bell Telephone Laboratories educational science experiment is an electronic vowel sound synthesizer. The kit makes vowel sounds, (a,e,i,o,u) when correct value capacitors are inserted in the 3 Formant Generators. I still have to play around with the capacitors to create recognizable sounds, but I'm still thrilled that all of the original components (save for one resistor that I accidentally cut too short for the segment I was inserting) worked when assembled. Hooray for science!
